August's Features!

I can totally relate with a lot of photographers when they say they feel awkward blogging about their latest features.  It can really easily feel like you are tooting your own horn... and I don't like that!  However, I decide to keep doing it for a few reasons - 1.  I'm really excited!!  I love sharing good news with my readers and being featured is one of the most amazing ways to display my work, and it's a huge honor!  2.  I definitely want to thank the editors who are willing to feature my work - it really means a lot and I want them to know that I appreciate them!  and 3.  It's especially exciting (I think) for my couples and clients when they see their images pop up somewhere other than my blog.  Probably the MAIN reason I love to have my work featured is because I love doing something extra special for my couples and making THEM feel special, not just me!  I will never forget how excited I was when I got a text from a fellow photographer, Ali Williamson, to tell me that MY wedding was featured on Smitten Magazine's blog!  As a bride, I was REALLY excited!!  Thanks for that feature, Katelyn!!

So as a bride AND as a photographer, it's really exciting... and that is why I love sharing it with you!  So thank you for being excited with me!  Here are the fun features from the month of August!

The most exciting feature this month was Helen and Thomas' wedding (and their love story) on Heart Love Weddings!  I absolutely LOVE this blog because not only does it showcase the couple's wedding pictures, it also tells their love story as well.  Alexandra, the editor from Heart Love Weddings is the sweetest blogger and was such a joy to work with from start to finish!

Last week, a few images (seen below) from Bre's Trash the Dress were featured on Bayside Bride, as well as a quote from me as to why I LOVE shooting Trash the Dress sessions!  Natalie Franke wrote an awesome article about TTD sessions so you should definitely check it out!

Thanks for the feature, Natalie!!

The same day that Bre's images were on Bayside Bride, I got an email from a woman named Maria who told me that in addition to the Bayside Bride feature, she saw two of my trash the dress images on MSN Living - BUT the photo was not properly credited to me!  She wanted me to know so I could get it fixed - thanks Maria!!  It's always so helpful to have others looking out for you!

Sure enough, I was able to contact the people behind the article and receive the proper photo credit - yay!

The same day I was working on the whole photo-credit thing with MSN Living, I kept digging deeper into the internet to see where they originally found my image and, if it was somewhere else, to be sure I had proper photo credit there, too!  Sure enough, to my surprise, I found it on THE KNOT!!  And fortunately the credit was correct - I was so excited!!

And lastly, another reason why it is SO great that photographers post where they've been featured - I saw this feature on Katelyn's blog last week - the Shoe Game was featured on another blog, It's a Bride's Life!  It's a blog run by real brides-to-be showing off ideas and inspiration for their own weddings, and this bride found the Shoe Game on Pinterest!  I am still in disbelief at how much the Shoe Game has spread on Pinterest!  So cool!

Thanks for sharing in my excitement with me!  Have a wonderful Tuesday!!
