Wedding Inspiration: Creative Cake Cutters

When I started the Wedding Inspiration series, part of my reasoning is because my clients have inspired me in so many ways.  There were many creative ideas I saw that I had never thought of before!  Many of them I incorporated into my own wedding, and some I did not.  This particular one I didn't give too much thought until recently, otherwise I may have considered using it!  Two of my weddings now have used really creative methods to cut their cake!  And I love it!  It's so personal to them and it's really different than the typical cake cutting knife... plus it's really fun to watch.

This shot is from my first wedding ever!  Becky and Jeromy got married in July of 2010 and Jeromy is a firefighter in Dale City.  They decided it would be fun to engrave an axe and use it to cut their cake!

I was kind of secretly hoping they would karate-chop their cake in half, but that would've made a huge mess!

At Erin and Stephen's wedding, his marine corps sabre was out on display at the cake table.  I thought it was a fun place to show it off, until it came time to cut the cake...

...and they used it!  I love it!

I would love to see more fun ideas at my weddings - the cake cutting is a pretty standard ceremonial part of the reception - the fun usually doesn't start until the bride and groom feed each other the cake, but these two weddings really made the cake cutting part stand out and be memorable!

What creative cake cutters have you seen at a wedding?

I absolutely LOVE the axe! And whenever a military member uses a sword... my heart skips a beat a little! Sweet tradition!

THAT AXE IS AWESOME! Would a chainsaw be too much?
