Meet My Bag

I feel like I have a personal relationship with my camera bag, so today I am going to INTRODUCE you to it!  Recently I was on Promise Tangeman's website browsing around, getting inspired, when I noticed some familiar images.  I quickly learned that Promise designed the website and even modeled in some shots for Epiphanie Bags.  That made me 10 times more excited, because I already love my bag, and I also love Promise, so it totally made sense!

As I mentioned above, my bag is from Epiphanie Bags by Maile Wilson.  Maile is a photographer and, like most female photographers, was frustrated that we had to carry around our equipment in butt-ugly bags (my words, not hers!) so she decidede to design something cute and functional so female photogs can be stylish AND practical (i.e. not throwing your camera into your PURSE).

It all started a little over two years ago - I was in photography school and one of my closest friends, Rachael, came to shool one day with this ADORABLE teal camera bag.  "I WANT THAT.  WHERE DID YOU GET THAT?"  She told me about the website where she found it.  I immediately went there and fell in LOVE with the Ginger bag.  Since my birthday was coming up, I told my parents that I had a great idea for a gift, and sure enough they bought it for me for my 23rd birthday!  I have been the proud owner of an Epiphanie bag ever since.

Before I owned this bag, I was using a typical ugly black camera bag that screamed, "STEAL ME!  I HAVE A CAMERA INSIDE!"  My concerns began to grow because multiple classmates of mine had been mugged or nearly mugged, carrying camera gear back and forth into DC every day.  One girl even owned the same bag as me.  That's when I knew I wanted something new.

I can't tell you how many compliments I receive on this bag.  "Is that your CAMERA bag?"  I proudly say, "Yep!" and proceed to show them the inside, how it's ACTUALLY a camera bag.  For me, that's kind of the point - I love having a bag that doesn't scream CAMERA BAG because I'm less likely to get it swiped off of me when I'm out in public.  I joke with my friends that I look like a crazy bag lady, one of those girls who carries around a GINORMOUS purse and keeps her LIFE inside of it.  It may appear like that, but look inside and it's neat and orderly and perfectly functional like any other camera bag... just WAY cuter :)

One of my favorite parts of the Ginger bag is not only is it brown on the outside, one of my favorite colors, but it's BLUE on the inside!  If you haven't already noticed, blue and brown are my two favorite colors (HELLO!  Look at my branding!) and this bag uses them both!

All of the padded dividers are velcro so you can move them around until you get the configuration you want.  I spent nearly two hours arranging and rearranging my velcro pads the night I got my bag until I had it formatted exactly how I wanted it.  I haven't changed it since!!

There's a large pocket in the front with a smaller mesh pocket inside, perfect for all of those memory cards!  This is also a SNEAK PEEK to Friday's Fotog Friday where I am going to show you everything in my bag... but not the CAMERA related items, the EVERYTHING ELSE, or what I like to call my camera bag survival kit!  That'll be on the blog Friday!

I love my bag.  I think any female photographer should have a bag like this.  I feel so stylish when I walk around, but I'm not concerned about the safety of my equipment, either.

Lastly, my bag fits PERFECTLY in my shelf in my office.  It has a home, instead of always laying in a random spot on the floor.  This is where it sleeps and I'm so glad that it has an actual SPOT for itself (see?  I'm totally personifying my camera bag!  I'm a total nerd.)

Be sure to check out Epiphanie Bags by Maile Wilson!  As a proud owner for over two years now, I can honestly say I am obsessed with my bag!

Haha that's one of the same reasons I got my Kelly Moore- I was paranoid about getting mugged! This is really cute- I've never heard of Epiphanie bags before. I'm definitely going to check them out!

do you carry a purse and your camera bag out? or do you put your wallet, etc in there too?

Do you think that you would be able to move around the velcro padded dividers to fit a 13" macbook pro in the bag? I am looking at purchasing the bag, but would like to know if it would be large enough to fit my Canon T2i with a 50mm lens attached and my macbook (and maybe some baby stuff, i.e. diapers wipes) and a wallet? Any advice would be appreciated!
Thanks!
